Dan Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar Games, has made some new announcements since he exited the company he helped build into a global powerhouse. Dan has personally invested in Revolving Games, and they have recently teamed with a new project to develop a game, about which we now have the first details.
Collaboration on a new video game
Last week, NFT project Overlord, a web3 collectible of lizards, announced a partnership with Revolving Games. They are working together to create a game for the Overlord project, according to Overlord co-founder Dom Smith via Decrypt. The game has no name yet, but it appears to be sci-fi in tone, with intentions to “spread several worlds and universes.” In addition, gamers will be able to discover new alien species.
“Each species has their own motivations and skills, and due to their unique abundance of resources and technological advancements, have different styles of conquering their enemies,”
How did this come to be?
Dan, the mastermind behind fan-favorite games, left the company he helped start in early 2020. We didn’t find out what he was up to after leaving the realms of Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption until September of last year. We discovered that Houser had invested in Revolving Games and would be joining their advisory board. This was a new game studio that specialized in web3 blockchain gaming. The next month, the teaser trailer for the company’s debut game, Skyborne Legacy, was unveiled.
In an interview with GamesBeat, Revolving Games CEO Saad Zaeem stated that he met with Dan Houser “a few years ago and they started exploring concepts together.” Nonetheless, they ended up doing different types of job. Instead, Houser became an adviser (and an investor). Zaeem continues, “Dan is a legend of the industry,” which is especially true for fans of Rockstar’s titles.
