Tezos Art Ecosystem Growth in 2025: Flagship Events, Institutional Programs, and Artist Sales

The Tezos art ecosystem made 2025 a standout year for institutional adoption and artist growth, with more than half a million NFTs sold across the year. From groundbreaking museum collaborations to innovative educational programs, Art on Tezos continues to demonstrate that blockchain technology can meaningfully support artistic practice at scale.

This year, the Tezos Foundation expanded its partnership with the Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI), transforming the museum’s Herbert S. Schlosser Media Wall into a showcase of blockchain-based artistic experimentation. Since the first partnership exhibition in June 2024, MoMI has introduced over 243,000 visitors to digital art, with many creating blockchain wallets for the first time through the museum’s free minting station experience. The new year-long program is commissioning 12 artists to create innovative works using FA2 smart contracts as an integral part of their artistic practice and has also launched the FA2 Fellowship, designed to teach artists and developers about Tezos FA2 smart contracts.

The presence of the Tezos ecosystem at major art events throughout 2025 demonstrated its reach. NFT Paris in February drew attention with digital art pioneer Kiki Picasso’s live demonstration on an original 1980s Quantel Paintbox, the same $250,000 machine used to create the MTV logo and early digital masterpieces by artists such as David Hockney. The “Paintboxed – Tezos World Tour” brought this device from digital art history to 4 cities: New York, Miami, Paris, and Basel during Art Basel, introducing thousands to the medium’s roots while demonstrating new works by the talented artists creating art on the blockchain today.

The largest event of the year was Art on Tezos Berlin, a three-day festival that transformed the city into a global hub for digital art. The event attracted more than 700 international visitors, exhibiting over 500 artists, dozens of exhibitors, and featuring the world’s leading artists in their fields exploring the intersection of art, technology, and AI. Performances by artists such asp1xelfool, OONA, and poet Franziska Ostermann pushed the boundaries of live digital art, while the works on view showcased everything from generative art to interactive experiences.

Combined with successful activations at Paris Photo and global festivals, these events engaged tens of thousands of visitors throughout the year, many of whom minted their first digital artwork through interactive experiences. At the Paris Photo fair, Artverse presented a booth featuring prominent artists Niceaunties, Grant Yun, Reuben Wu, Shavonne Wong, Emi Kusano, and Genesis Kai, several of whom were releasing works on Tezos for the first time. The curation was available for purchase via objkt one, with strong sales figures attracting many first-time buyers on Tezos.

Education remained a core focus throughout the year. In addition to the MoMI x Tezos FA2 Fellowship, a strategic partnership with the Processing Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes software literacy in the arts and technology, was announced in August. The joint programme is producing a comprehensive tutorial series for p5.js 2.0, extending access to creative coding education globally. This initiative builds on earlier programs supported by the Tezos Foundation, such as WAC Labs, which delivered blockchain education to professionals across 40+ institutions, and Newtro in Argentina, which focused on onboarding artists through workshops and practical training.

The ecosystem celebrated several significant artistic achievements in 2025. Recent highlights include the Francisco Carolinum’s acquisition of TeleNFT works first presented at Art on Tezos Berlin, marking a significant institutional addition of fully on-chain digital art. Also presented in Berlin, artist qubibi’s live-coded generative work hello world sold for 62,000 tez following its presentation at his Galerie Met solo show. Earlier this year, Mario Klingemann’s early AI work, Triggernometry, a generative music video, also sold for 43,000 tez during the Digital Art Mile, where it was curated by Anika Meier for objkt one, underscoring the growing presence of generative art across both market and exhibition contexts.

As 2025 concludes, the foundation for continued growth appears strong. The MoMI partnership extends through January 2027, with additional phases bringing new artists and experimental approaches to blockchain integration.
